Stable system (Windows 7)

Restricting automatic Internet updates, reallocating virtual memory file on a faster hard drive or remove the song that accompanies the login screen are just some measures that increase the control exerted by the user on his computer. In addition, there will be improved boot speed and security.

1. No unauthorized updates

You have installed a lot of applications that make their occasional updates from the internet without having to seek the agreement will thus exposing you to various dangers. Our advice is to stop them blocking their enthusiasm internet access from within the operating system. Thus, you will be able to take on, really, control your computer and decide which applications should have access to the Internet and which not, but, above all, to always be aware of what is happening in the background. Such a policy prevents attacks from spyware and malware spies who can connect to the Internet through the relevant application, and send confidential data.
a) Click on Start
b) Click on Control Panel
c) Access the Windows Firewall
d) Select the option to Allow a Program or Feature through Windows Firewall in the Firewall section located in the left panel
e) Click the Change Settings button on the right side of the window, just above the list of programs that have access to internet
f) Uncheck all aplications that seem suspicious or those you want to keep them under close observation and control. Will thus be stopped from accessing the Internet without permission
g) Click the OK button found on the bottom of the list. Applications will ask permission before accessing the Internet.

2. Delete username

After logging in Windows 7, it will show the username in Start Menu and anyone can see it. Without becoming paranoid, but concerned about data security or perhaps embarrassed by name color, you will want to remove it. We show further how to permanently delete the display name or just hide it from prying eyes.
a) Right click on the taskbar and select Properties
b) Select the Start Menu Registry
c) Click the Customize button
d) Check the option Do not display this item located in the Customize Start Menu window, under the Personal Folder
e) CIic OK

3. Disable logon sound

Music that Windows 7 runs every time the login screen is displayed and then again when the login itself is reminiscent of the past, the time when most computers had not a integrated sound card. Of course this is no longer the case so, and the media file of 500KB which the system must load it every time it slows down for no reason. I recommend to disable it by following the steps below:
a) Click the Start button and navigate to Control Panel
b) Go to Hardware & Sound > Change System Sounds
c) Scroll in the Program Events list and click Windows Logon Events
d) Click the Sounds drop-down list and select None
e) Uncheck the Play Windows Startup sound displayed under Program Events window
f) Click Apply and then OK.
I got rid of ballast, but if you want to do and faster operating system and charge its experience on the deactivation scheme sounds, putting them at a time on None.

4. Change location of virtual memory

Virtual memory swap file or paging file is very important for the operating system that it uses in compensation when it do not have enough random access memory (RAM) to run a program or operation. How Windows decides which programs remain in physical memory is extremely complex and can not be changed. However, there are some tricks that improve the use of swap file, such as blocking certain applications before accessing or placing it on another hard drive of your computer, even a portable hard drive or USB stick. You say that accessing virtual memory, in such cases, will slow the operating system - an error if talking about a computer with multiple hard disks. Reallocation of virtual memory file on a hard disk will create significantly faster system performance, what you need to do:
a) Click the Start button, right-click Computer and select Properties
b) After loading the System window, click Advanced System Settings
c) Click on the Settings option located in the Performance section
d) Click Advanced and then click the register button found in section Virtual Memory Change
e) Uncheck Automatically manage paging file for all drives and leave the selected partition or hard disk that is currently saving virtual memory.
f) Before making any changes, make a note field contents Initial size and Maximum size. Click the No Paging File option and then click the Set button.
g) Select the partition where you want to place the new swap file.
h) When new partition is highlighted, select Custom Size and enter the numbers noted above. If not, select the Mode Custom Size and choose System Managed Size.
i) Click the Set button and then click OK. The OS will start using the swap file on the new location after a reboot.
